Cheshire Plumbers Raise £6,685 For Cash for Kids

Last December, Omnia Plumbing and Heating’s MD Alastair Barton put a post out on LinkedIn inviting his connections to join him in supporting ‘Mission Christmas’, a campaign run by UK children’s charity ‘Cash for Kids’ that ensures at least 30,000 children in the Greater Manchester area living in poverty or as victims of abuse or neglect have a present to open on Christmas morning.

Like so many charities, the campaign had not been as well supported as previous years due to the pandemic and, at the time of Alastair’s post, were 20,000 presents short of their target with less than a week to go until the big day.

Thanks to comments and shares from his LinkedIn community, Alastair’s post received over 10,000 views and the donations poured in. In a matter of days, Alastair’s Go Fund Me page had generated £6,685.

Cash for Kids was launched to support vulnerable children and young adults as well as those with life-limiting illnesses or other specific needs. Mission Christmas is one of several annual campaigns launched by the charity. Cash for Kids was established by radio and magazine brand business, Bauer Media, and has 22 branches across the UK. Omnia is supporting the Greater Manchester branch ‘Hits Radio Cash for Kids’ and all donations will be shared out via grants to communities in the Greater Manchester area.

Nationally, Cash for Kids helped 548,102 children across the UK in 2021, which included 45,552 by the Hits Radio Cash for Kids team in Greater Manchester.

Moved greatly by the work and the commitment of the Cash for Kids team, Omnia Plumbing and Heating installers has pledged to continue its support throughout 2022 and 2023. As well as one off fundraising efforts, Omnia has established ‘Bucks for Boilers’, an on-going fundraiser where the company donates £20 every time it completes a new boiler installation for a customer. Omnia is also offering to add a further £25 donation on behalf of existing customers every time a friend or family member buys a new boiler installation from Omnia based on their recommendation.

With an average of 200 new boilers installed across Cheshire by the company each year, Omnia is hoping to raise over £4,000 through this initiative, but it’s overall fundraising target is £8,000.

To support the charity, you can make a donation via Omnia’s Go Fund Me page or head to the Cash for Kids website and donate online.
